Sex and Second Life

Puzzled

My journey in Second life has been one that could be defined as interesting; recently a friend asked in Facebook to describe our overall experience thus far with one word, interesting would definitely be the one I would use, but in retrospect I believe that I lost the way, distracted by all of the things that were happening to me.

Recent events encouraged me to “come out” and hopefully do some good while giving something back to those in my same situation, that were not as fortunate as I, to find the love and support of a SL family. I have become many things over the years, a DJ, a designer, a public figure, a blogger but mainly and most important of all, a father and as such I must preach by example.

While engaging in an argument with one of our beloved “drama llamas” a few weeks ago, one of the counter points this person used was to call me an “Autistic freak” along another f word more frequently used I just won’t repeat and what drew my attention to this fact, was the notion that he was using this as if it were some sort of dirty secret I was hiding from public view.

People from my generation did not enjoy the benefits of an early diagnosis, for most of our childhood and teen years, we could only make the most with what we had and carry on, but at some point I discovered the wonderful world of second life, which quickly became not only my therapy, but my second home.

For those of you out there without a disability, our group and community “Puzzle” has been created recently to not only inform, but also bring some normalcy to our interaction as human beings; for the many of you dealing with a disability in RL or with a loved one with it, this would be the right start to find support and hopefully, much like in my case turn out becoming better and more wholesome individuals in RL.

Puzzle’s statement is simple, an open mind and an open heart is all you need –puzzle group link in FB-. Autism speaks, is time to listen.
