Sex and Second Life

Army of me

mirrorAs every year, and for the first time since I moved to the UK, I had the opportunity of enjoying a long weekend -May 5th is a Bank holiday here- where I not only had the chance to catch up on everything domestic, but fine tune upcoming and ongoing projects in SL which have me, and those involved really excited. This has involved a lot of talking to people inworld and various experiences that have really put things into perspective -even got to scratch and old time itch of mine-.

A few months ago, due to heavy drama aimed my way, and RL getting busier and busier by the minute, I decided that the healthiest and most sensible thing to do at the time was to leave second life for a while -if not for good- and try and get my life sorted and then take it from there; when you have kids is complicated though, as simply packing up and not turning back is next to impossible, so I would find myself logging in, if only for a few just to spend time with them and seeing how they were doing.

Despite the fact that for the longest time I have been more than aware than in second life you can only trust half of what you see and half of what people say to you, I was hurt by frontal attacks coming from inside my circle of trust, from people that I not only called my friends but welcomed as part of my family; -when the attacks come from outside, is fine, you can see them coming a mile away- so I rebooted and came back when I felt it was time to do so, moved the blog to its current location and got the rest of my things inworld sorted as well.

But over the past few months of my return, I have found that a large part of the old me is very much gone, and even though some of those friends who wronged me have tried reaching out to mend things, fixing something that has been marred and bent beyond recognition is not something that I would like to get very invested in, specially when trust is gone; so I have enjoyed some quiet time with my loved ones and have taken comfort in photography and my blog.

Today however, I got to spend part of my afternoon catching up with and old friend -and when I say old I mean noob days old, by the way here’s a link to her blog-, who has always been there for me whenever I needed advice or just an ear to vent on, which brought part of that old me back. It was truly refreshing to just goof about and remember the old days when mesh didn’t exist and Bloodlines was the hip thing to do, specially from the perspective of our years inworld and a path well travelled.

All of these events got me to a simple conclusion, which led for another blog post before RL sweeps me away and keeps me busy for a few days, pretty much like the song goes, the old me is not gone, it was not destroyed and erased by those who did me wrong, it has simply become an army of me:” one of me is wiser, one of me is stronger, one of me is a fighter and there’s a thousand faces of me“, which is what happens when you pick up the pieces and move on, since for every time they broke you, they will have to face an army of you, never let SL drama get the best of you, learn from it and move on, we’re doing this for fun after all.
