Mama

mothers-day-crown-590x400I am fully aware that this post comes a day late, but I my time in second life seems to have gotten extremely busy as of late and I found myself running around most of my Sunday, trying to kerp my word on those things I promised I would do, so today I am using my comute time to honor that special person in our lives, our mum.

Mine had a really hard time growing up, her mother died when she was 5 and my grandfather remarried shortly afterwards, leaving my mum and her two siblings with very little memories of the first one and in the care of someone who simply tolerated them. My mother made a run for it as soon as she could and met my father and the rest is history.

She vowed as soon as she found out she was expecting that she would try and be the best mother there could ever be, and even though my strongest bond was with my dad, I have nothing but praise for her as she truly kept her word.

I was far from being an easy child, half the time I was isolated in my own little world and he other half I was out and about causing mayhem, and the only one at home who seemed to be able to get through to me was my father, so she’d find herself saying “you deal with him” quite often.

But she was patient and kind, forced me to try new things by making me eat things I would feel sick just by looking at them, expanded my horizons by teaching us both what a pleasure could be found in reading and her words “how do you know if you haven’t tried yet?” Are still engraved in the back of my head reminding me that my disability does not define me as a person and the only bad thing in new experiences is not trying at all.

So this post is dedicated to all women, the mums, the soon to be mums, the SL mums and those who plan to be one someday, you have both the best and hardest job in the world and half of what we turn out to be is largely due to your efforts.

Love you mama.
