Ego

Spike faceThis is the point where you are wondering why it has taken me nearly a week to work on a new post, and like I have said before, not only do I take pride and special care on anything I post -including the pictures which I try are of my own creation- and I have made it a point in my short but sweet blogging career, to not write anything unless I have something that needs to be said; there have also been a few projects that have kept me busy, first and foremost the Autism Support Open-Air Summer Gallery opening this Sunday –direct link here– and I was also honored -despite being semi-retired from DJing at this point- by being asked to be the opening act for the SL11B birthday celebration –full details about it all here-, so even at this point in time when I try to keep my SL activities to a minimum, I seem to be a busy bee.

I suddenly found myself with some free time on my hands today, so decided to indulge in some social media snooping and bonding with family members on SL, new and old alike, and I stumbled upon a facebook post about egos that literally made me chuckle and motivated me to write this article about that unconditional love we all feel and that is the greatest love of all -as Whitney once put it- the love one feels for oneself.

Don’t get me wrong I have nothing against a well fed self-esteem but people in SL -specially on facebook which seems to be the perfect outlet for ego trips and narcissistic self indulgent statuses at the most random times- have come into the habit of overdoing the love yourself bit a notch or two; in my short time span in SL I have worked and mingled with a wide array of individuals, some self proclaimed SLcelebrities -who seem to think the world not only revolves around them but are required some type of special treatment, to either work with them catering to their every desire and whim and even thought I have had my moments, I have learned that anything life throws at you, must be welcomed with humility and a kind heart, because one day you are way on top, but that can be changed in an instant.

Rise and Fall

Taken by Abel Crow

I consider myself a good and loyal friend, but I have also learned -by either trusting the wrong people or thinking everyone relates to and understand friendship on the same level as me- that all relationships have to be reciprocal, you can’t be the one giving constantly and I refuse to center my happiness on things or people that will lead me nowhere or will not provide a positive energy, and that is namely what focusing your happiness and joy on your ego will do to you, as soon as your expectations are not met, and that one life achievement holds no base to keep you up on top anymore, then what’s next?, you will find yourself, much like in the picture, bruised and hurt wondering what you did wrong. -Thanks to the very talented Abel Crow for allowing me to use his picture, follow his blog here

I have learned to keep my opinion about myself between closed lips, since my self-esteem does not require any reassurance and my happiness is simply not centered on it, have you?
