Sex and Second Life

Sleazy

GrungeThe good thing about having friends and family in second life that love you unconditionally, is the fact that if you suddenly decide to keep to yourself and not go out much, they’ll camp out with you and spend hours and whole afternoons talking about random things or just being lazy with you, or if you change your mind all of the sudden and turns out that you are in the mood to party, go out and be “seen”, they’ll get dressed and tag along with you, no questions asked; so when I decided a little bit of partying and club hopping would not hurt anybody, I was not surprised to see that everyone readily agreed to come and do some exploring with me.

I am what you would consider in the gay community as the “LIGHT” gay, I am out and proud, not afraid to discuss how amazing I find penises to be, but I don’t necessarily enjoy going to clubs often in RL, partying hard, voicing my pride going to gatherings or the so popular trend that seems to be the hip thing to do, being part of a LGTB community in-world that is solely led and organised by gay men -talk about being inclusive with the whole community-; I strongly believe that we all experience our sexuality differently and there are many levels of “gayness” and all are good and valid, however I am not necessarily at ease with anything over the top -I respect it, I just won’t partake-

When it comes to SL clubs, the whole presentation and theme surrounding the venue is very important, and the first impression you get as a patron as soon as everything around you is rezzed will strongly determine if you do stay, come back and tell your friends about it. One of my favorite “frenemies” was hosting a party and while browsing through notices trying to decide where to go, this place immediately caught my eye for that very reason, he was hosting, I had to go, check the place out and maybe get a kick of making him feel both glad and slightly uncomfortable about me and my partner -and friends to soon follow- being there having a good time.

The whole place was an invasive and loud message of gay, slutty and proud shoved down your eyeballs and ears that I don’t think am able to describe with plain words, but to give you a general idea on how the whole thing was themed, the club’s tip-jar was that of a human head, giving head to a giant penis -semen included and the sad part is that I am not exaggerating-, those who were naked this early on within the party -as it had just started-, were in varied states of hardness and the DJ was trying his best to play the gayest music he could think of to fit the atmosphere and theme, and I must hand it to him, he was doing a good job at it but it all was too much.

The whole place screamed tasteless sex and sent a horrible message on how by being gay, you must love disco music, be horny, adore sperm and be willing to accept any gay cliche you can possibly think of as a valid one; for the whole 10 minutes we managed to endure such a feast for the senses I felt cheap and cheated at the same time, as a large part of it all made me feel as an inadequate homo, after all if this is what being gay is all about -at least in SL- then I most likely must be doing it wrong -or be turning straight-.

My fears and doubts were dissipated when we moved the party to two other gay clubs were we felt more at ease and not so dirty, this made me realize something: as a patron you do experience things quite differently than when you are either hosting, DJing or a Club owner, your venue must always make feel people welcome and wanting to have some fun, it must be contagious but this club had none of that, unless you count the exaltation of venereal diseases and promiscuous sex to be a good thing, then this place is definitely for you.

There are two things I simply don’t mix in SL and that is sex and partying, they do not go well hand in hand and in my own experience, what goes well with cruising doesn’t exactly match music and patrons, but then again that’s just me, “welcoming” and “well-cumming” are not synonyms.
