Sex and Second Life

CrossroadsMy father always said that making a choice required a certain level of intelligence, as one could not make any life altering decisions -or sound judgments for that matter- unless you had a general idea of what you were doing and where is it that you wanted you end up at; no matter what your plans are, making choices is always hard regardless on how smart and in control of things you pride yourself to be.

In my own personal experience, there is no greater danger and risk in life than being dumb, but existing in the wrong belief that you are smart, because this thing alone will present you with two conflicting issues: the first one will make you choose the wrong path every single time but will have you under the delusion that it is without flaw, until the cold hard truth hits you in the face, and the second one will reject any help that could prove to be beneficial to you and your overall personal growth because after all, you live under the pretense you are in fact… smart.

In my past few years in SL I have stumbled upon a wide array of people, from all walks of life and cultures -something that I have found enriching and priceless-, but the one thing I run into again and again -some can be qualified as acquaintances, others as friends- are that rare species of people who are dumb, don’t know they are dumb -think sixth sense but for the idiot- and live under the wrong belief that they are not -then again if you are dumb, how can you possibly be intelligent enough to realize you are not intelligent?-

One of my favorite actors, John Cleese explains it better in this 60 second video -him referring to a specific group of people we are all familiar with, I just won’t give away the ending-, but I have found it to be inclusive of SL and the internet as a whole, where the dumb not only think they are right, but have a voice that get supported and encouraged by others under their similar IQ range.

Be as it may, sometimes I wish I was not overly intelligent… sure, it is delusional and not real, but doesn’t seem to be a horrendous way to live, after all sometimes ignorance is bliss.
