Bloodlines

BloodlinesLast night I was given the opportunity to briefly experience a lifestyle I had considered long forgotten and disassociated from and that is the “Bloodlines” in-world RP game platform; when I initially joined SL 5 years ago, I roamed aimlessly for a good number of days, until I was spotted by my liege and future first husband, so naturally as a noob, the clan became my world, my life and my reason for logging in for a good number of years.

I took on many roles during my clan / family life and fate would have it that I would eventually move on to do my own thing, with a close circle of friends and those I considered family; still centered within bloodlines, but a bit more open, with no royalty and a democratic system which was what I believed at the time was needed and wanted.

To gloss over the specific details, in time the clan and what was left of it slowly disbanded, most people went their separate ways and after having endured some very difficult RL life changes, I decided to make a choice I always thought impossible and inconceivable to me, distancing myself from bloodlines and just log to SL for fun and enjoyment; I quickly discovered that it was not only the right choice but after the RP “kool aid” had wore off, I realised I had never been after Royalty titles, praise, power or recognition -which is what draws most people to the system-, but my attachment was more centered towards my own sense of family and community, but gladly you do not need a HUD -heads up display attached to your screen inworld- to have any of that going for you.

I still respect those who choose bloodlines as not only a RP system but a lifestyle, but I am very happy not being involved in it not even slightly, and have presently lieged to an active clan, to allow those still loyal and lieged under me the chance to continue to live their SL as they see fit; in SL you do have the privilege and fortune of being able to choose your family and Bloodlines as a whole -apart from being an incredible source of drama- takes some of that away.

I guess Morticia Adams was right when she said “What’s normal for a Spider is Chaos for a fly”, I guess it’s always wise to reevaluate your position when you stop being the Spider.
