Sex and Second Life

Road to nowhere

Road to nowhereThe end of the week for me presented itself with a good number of challenges that literally made me feel as I were indeed headed to nowhere, with lost friends and radical changes around me that seriously made me consider not only my footing, but my direction; with a long weekend ahead and some time off I decided to brush it off and worry later.

So I indulged in my initial Friday routine as I logged in and browsed through social networks as I usually do, trying to catch up with everything I’ve missed, earlier today however, I took the time to discuss with a close friend both of our RL dramas; see the thing here is, regardless of how severe a SL situation may be, you have the advantage of having a number of tools at your disposal to make it end and move on, even logging off, but RL is another thing entirely.

RL all on its own can affect your whole SL and most of the time, no matter how separate you try to keep them the fine line is a blurry one and it will affect your choices and your mood, in both realities; the impermanence of life it is something that all of us struggle with to some degree, I mean no one really likes change unless it is a good one and despite our best wishes and efforts to live a peaceful, rosy existence, there will always be challenges to be had, mountains to climb and things to learn from.

Giving up may seem like a comfortable and easy alternative and in SL doing this is amazingly easy, just log off and never come back but there is no escaping RL, so why not enjoy the ride and make the most out of what you have been offered?, one thing you learn as a Buddhist is the fact that all things in life are in a constant state of change, even yourself, clinging to the past only causes pain and sadness and worrying too much about the future will make you anxious, if we are realistic we live in a permanent moment called today.

Enjoy the ride, the only thing that matters is the journey, and in SL and RL there is no destination, no ultimate reward in our long and sometimes exhausting road to nowhere; at the end of the day this is all we have, the road traveled.
