Judgement day

JesusA conversation today with someone from my generation had me thinking about the crazy times we live in.

Millennials seem to have been brought up sheltered from all human feelings, where political correctness is common practice, as words hurt more than actions it seems.

I remember growing up in the eighties and always look back fondly on how much simpler things were; black was black, white was white, up opposite to down… you know the drill. Sure, not all equality we now enjoy had been achieved and some areas were tougher to digest, like being told in school by teachers being gay made you a deviant or women’s goals in life was to get married before they reached a certain age.

Then again, no matter what you grew up being exposed to you learned to find your path among all of the noise around you, because at the end of the day you were raised to believe that everyone was entitled to their own opinion, and it was perfectly fine not to agree, something I think this new generation is lacking.

Our times are over exposed to social media and the internet, which helps mankind be connected and the world feels like a much smaller place, but has also given an open forum and voice to people that did not have one before, which is both a good and a bad thing.

Isn’t it time we learned to be a bit less offended by everything and developed some backbone? I think our next project or trend as a society should be to put down the pitchforks and learn to ignore those things posted on the internet that don’t appeal to our good sense, because commenting and sharing kids, only adds fuel to the flames.
